2007 Dodgeville Historic Buildings Photo Contest
What do you think are the best features of Dodgeville's historic buildings? Do you have a favorite home or downtown building that you enjoy looking at? Is there a special architectural feature or ornament that catches your eye?
Many of us in Dodgeville treasure the unique character of our town, and recognize that these special places embody the pride and workmanship of previous generations. We think a display of your photographs will help preserve these buildings.
2007 marks the second year the Dodgeville Historic Preservation Commission is sponsoring a photography contest. This event will coincide with hundreds of other events as part of a nationwide celebration of National Historic Preservation Month in May 2007.
1. No entry fee is required. A maximum of four photos can be submitted by each entrant. Conventional or digital prints and color or black & white are acceptable. Submitted photos must be 5"x7". Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007.
2. Send your photos or hand deliver to: Dodgeville Historic Preservation Commission, in care of the Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce, 338 N Iowa Street, Dodgeville, WI 53533. Include an entry form for each photo. Label the back of each with your name, address, phone number, and photo location. (Suggestion: Use a sticky back note or write directly on the photo with a "Sharpie").
3. The photographs must be taken within the city limits of Dodgeville. Winning photographs will be chosen on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and historic interest. Photo subject must be an exterior or interior building or fixed feature of the building. Entrants grant the right to the Dodgeville Historic Preservation Commission to use their photographs for promotional purposes. Photos will not be returned.
4. The contest is open to all people, except for Commission members and their immediate family.
5. Cash prizes will be given to four winning photographs in these categories:
- Adult amateur (18 and up) $50
- Adult professional $50
- Kids $50
- Black & White (any age) $50
6. Winning photographs and a selection of other submitted photographs will be displayed in a public space (to be determined) and contest winners will be announced in the Dodgeville Chronicle. Questions? Call Amber Westerman 935-9020
