Chamber membership ...
Why? Why not. |
| ...Scott Thomas, Former Membership Committee Chair |
Why be a member? Why not be a member! It's a good business decision. As business people, we are always looking for ways to grow our businesses. The Chamber of Commerce is made up of business people who share this vision. We want to promote a viable and healthy business climate within our business community.

Most people look for value and convenience when buying goods or services. Time is probably one of the most precious commodities we possess, but the one that most people say they never have enough of. We are fortunate to have staff that helps the Chamber promote our business climate.

Don't think of membership as an expense or that you won't see a return on your dollar. The more activities and functions that bring people to Dodgeville - the better off your business and my business will be. Think of your dues as a business investment to promote your business. Promoting our area and strengthening our business community benefits your business.

Membership is more than just dues. A larger membership means more voices. Membership gives us an opportunity to work together and to share our ideas. This makes for a stronger, more vital, and more effective organization.

Are you looking for value and convenience in strengthening your business? A Chamber membership gives you both. Please consider investing in your business by joining your Chamber of Commerce.

We hope that you will make a one-year commitment to join the Chamber. Since 1999, membership has increased by more than 30%, community and government support has been significant, and we appreciate the growing number of Friends & Supporters, Non-profits, and Home-based Businesses who have become Chamber members. Our staff and board of directors are committed to providing the Dodgeville area business community with a Chamber of Commerce that works to promote the assets of our area. We believe that every area business is a contributing member of our business community and one change this year is to expand our website to include an "index" list that will more accurately reflect the full extent of our growing business community — please take a look at www.dodgeville.com.
Our flexible dues structure was well received in 2001 and we are using the same scale this year with a range of dues across each employee level. Your dues help support our work, along with funds from the city, township, and county, some project-based grants, and fundraising events. We value each of these sources of financial support, but we rely on our members to support our organization and chart its course.
This past year included several milestones for our organization:
- Thanks to great community support, we made a down payment on 338 N. Iowa St. and, in July, we moved into the building!
- Our 3rd Annual Dodgeville Blues Fest was held on July 27th in Downtown Dodgeville.
- With Mineral Point and Spring Green, we have been hosting monthly rotating "Business Socials" and have been doing more multi-community marketing. In that same vein, in conjunction with Mineral Point, Mount Horeb, and New Glarus, we have been awarded JEM grant funds from the Department of Tourism for a fall marketing promotion.
